Survivors

We survived the first week of classes. Personally that is quite a feat, I have seven classes this semester with a total of 18 credit hours. I have Geography of the US, Family Wellness,Speech disorders, Sign Language, Yoga, Psychology, Vocabulary development. It isn't too bad, just a lot of stuff to take in, most of the classes I am taking for the fun of it just to fill in the credit hours that I need. I signed up for the Vocab class to work on my scrabble and bananagrams, skills who does that really? Also I checked out my dapr (the thing that tells you what to do to graduate) and I only have 2 required classes and a total of 17 credit hours to finish! Phil's schedule is awful, the exact opposite of all of my classes, really I don't think that it could have been any more different than it is this semester. It is great that there is a three day weekend after the first week of classes so that we have a chance to breathe before diving in without a break until spring break. We have been super busy these last few days. Friday we stayed home and watched a movie that we got for Christmas, we thought about going out but I was dead tired and just wanted to curl up and do nothing! Saturday we had a wedding reception to go to, it was good they had yummy cupcakes. After going there in the afternoon we also went to Late Nite on Campus, this semester it is back in the student center and is so much better than having it over at the gym. We went on a carriage ride, painted piggy banks, won stuffed animals, did a scavenger hunt for goldfish (crackers) and swedish fish (yuck, but Phil likes them) and we worked a Free the Slaves booth at the activities fair. It was a really good date night. Oh and did I mention that in the morning we signed a lease for a new apartment! It is right across the hall from some friends from church (The Shracks)We are going to be moving earlier than we had originally planned and it will be in the middle of the semester so we are starting to pack up stuff we don't use all the time so we do a good job of it now and not have to sort through piles of boxes later on. We are super excited about moving and being near friends and being able to rearrange things the way I want, oh and mostly about being able to put nails in the walls where ever I want to!

An Apple, Banana and a Pear...

These are our newest games in our collection. They are Bananagrams, Pairs in Pears, and Appletters and they are so fun. We searched for the bananagrams throughout the eastern half of the state until we finally found it (with a whole box of others) hiding at Barnes and Noble at Jefferson Point. I was searching for the banana then Phil found the others and decided to get them with his gift card. We have been playing them whenever we have a spare moment. We definitely recommend them to just about anyone especially if you enjoy scrabble or you're an english nerd...

Christmases #2/#3-The Horn's

On Christmas Eve we drove the four hour trek from Batesville up to Warsaw, with a quick stop in Munice to drop off and pick up stuff. We made it up in time to take a short nap and head over to Grandma Horn's for the annual Christmas Eve party. We had a wonderful dinner with so much food we could have (and did in some cases) eaten it for a week! Once we finished up there we went to my parents' house hit the hay in order to prepare for the big day. We woke up pretty early to Ally's excited Christmas squeals and opened stockings and then presents. After a yummy breakfast we said goodbye to Matt and Tashina as they headed back home to Indy for their next round of Christmas. We stayed the rest of the week up in Warsaw and did lots of stuff in the area. We went on a few (very cold) walks in the snow and visited Grandma and Grandpa Jo up in Columbia City among a lot of other things. One day we headed north to Amish country and went to a little grocery store that serves the community. We bought 25 pound sack of oatmeal for about 10 dollars (it is normally a dollar per pound) and other bulk items at dirt cheap prices. Well this isn't the actual end of our break or our Christmases (we still haven't had ours as a couple) We ended up back down in Batesville for another week and finally home. It is nice to see family, but it is also nice to be home and no longer living out of a suitcase.

Christmas #1-The Calls

Our first Christmas of the season was with Phil's family down in Batesville. We were the only ones to open up presents because everyone else was going to be there for actual Christmas day in the evening. We had my family's Christmas to go to so we couldn't stay for their festivities. We were down in Batesville for the first week of our wonderful break from school. I went to a class about taking pictures, it was fun and it gave me an excuse to play around with my camera and its settings. We were able to hang out with a nice majority of Phil's family meaning his mom and dad, James and Sarah, and Robert. We only missed seeing Ben's family, Amanda's family and Thomas, but Phil did get to talk to Thomas on the phone for a few minutes.
